What’s more, Brotzeit German Bier Bar and restaurant at Somerset 313 is the only place in town that allows you to dine either alfresco on the ground floor, or indoors on its mezzanine balcony. During major soccer matches, soccer fans are more than welcome to get rowdy at the restaurant’s mezzanine balcony; Brotzeit German Bier Bar and restaurant is a hive of activity on such occasions.

The Vibe: Situated at the veranda of Somerset 313, and opposite the much raved about Oriole Café, Brotzeit German Bier Bar and restaurant boasts a cosy setting good for chilling out. Hints of light and dark brown add a touch of livery to the restaurant’s snug atmosphere. During dusk, the restaurant’s mezzanine balcony is washed in subtle lighting which lights up its dim atmosphere.

The Food: Tuck into its decadent meat dishes, which are big on size. The breaded veal cutlet, pork knuckle, Wurstelplatte, Bavarian pizzas and salads, and salmon fillet with stir-fried greens are exemplary of German cooking. Dare your ravenous friends to try the pork knuckle – a wild boar trotter is deep-fried and served with a heap of greens – they will find it a challenge to wolf down their meal. Anyhow, be forewarned that the pork knuckle is a heavy meat dish it fills your palette fast; it is highly recommended you skip a meal to fully enjoy this intoxicating meat dish.

Breaded Veal Cutlet: The breaded veal cutlet is a popular German cuisine which is crispy and tender. A large slice of deer meat (veal) cutlet is breaded in flour and deep-fried to give this dish its exquisite taste. Well, patrons who have yet to try Brotzeit German restaurant breaded veal cutlet will instinctively mistake it for giant chicken cutlet. Taste-wise is, sinfully crispy.

Salmon Fillet with Stir-fried Greens: The salmon fillet with stir-fried greens is a heavily salted, well-balanced dish that whets your appetite for more goodies to come. A slab of salmon fillet is served with a mound of stir-fried greens and four slices of baked potatoes. Taste-wise is, salty and intoxicating, though the baked potatoes are simply tasty they make the best part of this dish.

Beer: Even if you are not a fan of beer (gassy!), a German dining experience is never complete without a lager. Thankfully Brotzeit German Bier Bar and restaurant serves beer that is smooth; it’s easy on the throat. Try the mango beer – a refreshing hot seller packed with an uplifting taste that literally tastes like fresh mango juice. Hint: beers served at Brotzeit German Bier Bar and restaurant hail from faraway Germany.

The Damage: Be prepared to be $150++ poorer if you want to experience German dining at its best.
